The Impact of Using the Strategies of the Listening Triangle and Carousel on the Achievement of Eighth Grade Male Students in Kurdish Grammar
Ageed Ramadhan Tukil, Ayad Fayzallah Othman
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of using Listening Triangle and Carousel strategies on the academic achievement of eighth-grade male students in the subject of Kurdish grammar. The researchers used a quasi-experimental design with equivalent groups. The sample included eighth-grade male students from public boys’ schools in the Directorate of Eastern Education in the city centre of Duhok during totaling (2056) students in (16) schools for the academic year 2024–2025. The researchers intentionally selected Bzav School, and then randomly divided the students into two groups:Experimental group (D): 31 students Control group (A): 32 students. The experimental group was taught using the Listening Triangle and Carousel strategies, while the control group was taught the same subject using the traditional method. The researchers designed two types of lesson plans for each grammar topic: One using the Listening Triangle and Carousel strategies for the experimental group Another using the traditional approach for the control groupTo measure achievement, a test consisting of 35 items was developed, with psychometric properties considered for accuracy and reliability. After a season of teaching and the end of a semester, the researchers administered the test, collected data, and performed statistical analysis using the T-test.The results showed that the Listening Triangle and Carousel strategies had a positive and significant effect on the academic achievement of students in the experimental group.
Volume 12 · Issue 6 · December 2025The Effect of Using Driver Model in Achievement of Third Year students in Kurdish Language Department in theories of Modrern Literary Criticism Subject and Developing their motivation to learning it
Rozan Muhammad Qaseem Sulaiman, Lulav A hmed abdullah, Yahman M. Abdulrahman3
The research aimed to determine the effect of using the Driver model on the achievement of third-grade students in the Kurdish language department in the subject of modern critical theories and to develop their motivation to learn the subject. The researchers adopted a quasi-experimental design with two equal groups with pre- and post-tests. An experimental group studied according to Drivers model and a control group studied according to the usual method. The researchers randomly selected two groups from the three sections in the third stage, and the two sections were distributed in the same manner, so the group represented Group A, which had 40 male and female students, represented the experimental group, while Group C, which had 43 male and female students, represented the control group, and parity was conducted between the two groups in several variables. The two researchers prepared an achievement test that included (40) multiple-choice and specific-answer items, as well as a scale to measure motivation to learn the subject, which included (34) items, and they extracted psychometric properties for them. After completing the experiment that began from (1/2/2024) to (4/7/2024), applying the test and scale, and conducting statistical treatment of the data using the T-test for two independent samples, The results showed that there were statistical differences at the level of (0.05) between the average achievement scores of students in the experimental and control groups, as well as development differences in the motivation scores to learn the subject, in favor of the experimental group. The researchers reached general conclusions and presented recommendations and proposals for conducting similar research in this field in the future.
Volume 12 · Issue 4 · August 2025The effectiveness of the Jigsaw style in achieving third-grade students in the Kurdish Language and Literature department in a Syntax subject.
Ayad Fayzallah Othman
The aim of the research is to identify the effectiveness of the Jigsaw style in achieving third-grade students in the Kurdish Language and Literature department in a Syntax subject. The researcher adopted the experimental design of equal groups with a post-test. The research community included third grade students / Department of Kurdish Language and Literature / College of Basic Education - Akre at the University of Duhok for the academic year (2023-2024), amounting to (82) male and female students, divided into two groups (a) and (b) randomly. Where the (42) students of the experimental group (A) were studied according to the Jigsaw style, and the students of the control group (B), the number of (40) students, were studied according to the usual method used. The researcher prepared an achievement test that included (30) items and extracted its psychometric characteristics. And after the completion of the experiment, which lasted a full semester, the researcher applied the tool, extracted the data, and conducted the statistical treatment using the (t.test) with it. The results showed that the Jigsaw Style had a significant impact on the achievement among the students of the experimental group, compared to their peers in the control group.
Volume 12 · Issue 3 · June 2025The Effect of Using Karin's Model on the Achievement of Fourth-grade Students in the Kurdish Language Department in a Literary Styles Subject
Diljeen Shafiq Mohammed
This research aimed to investigate the effect of using Karin's model on the achievement of fourth-grade students in the Kurdish Language Department in the subject of Literary Styles. The researcher adopted an experimental approach. The research population consisted of all fourth-grade students in the Kurdish Language Department, College of Basic Education, University of Duhok for the academic year (2024-2025), amounting (87) students, Section (A) with (44) students representing the experimental group that was taught using Karin's model, and Section (C) with (43) students representing the control group that was taught using the traditional method. The researcher conducted statistical equivalence between the two groups across several variables. The researcher prepared an achievement test consisting of three questions: the first question included (10) true/false items, the second question contained (15) multiple-choice items with four alternatives each, and the third question comprised (15) essay-type items. After completing the experiment, applying the research tool, collecting data, and conducting statistical analysis using t-test for independent samples, the researcher concluded that using Karin's model in teaching literary styles to fourth-grade students in the Kurdish Language students had a significant positive effect on student achievement compared to the traditional method. Based on the research results and conclusions, the researcher presented several recommendations.
