The perspectives of twelfth-grade students on the role of the academic curriculum in fostering learning motivation

The aim of this study is to examine The perspectives of twelfth-grade students on the role of the academic curriculum in fostering learning motivation. A descriptive–analytical design with a quantitative method was employed. Initially, the relationship between the role of curriculum and students' learning motivation was investigated theoretically. The sample of the study consisted of 160 twelfth-grade students, from both the scientific and literary branches and of both sexes, Simple Random Sampling from the center of Said Sadiq District. The research tool was a questionnaire designed by the researchers according to a five-point Likert-type scale (1 = Always, 2 = Often, 3 = Sometimes, 4 = Rarely, 5 = Never), used to analyze the data obtained from the sample. The researchers applied the independent-samples T-test in SPSS (version 26). The study reached several outcomes. Concerning the first aim, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the female variable, indicating that female students had higher learning motivation. Regarding the second aim, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the scientific branch variable. Finally, with respect to the third aim, the study revealed that students’ external motives were stronger than their internal ones, regardless of sex or branch, Regarding the fourth objective, the findings indicate that students’ learning motivation is at a high level.
Volume 12 · Issue 5 · October 2025University Lecturers’ and Public School Teachers’ Opinion of Numbers Writing Format in Public Education in The Kurdistan Region

The main aim of this study is to survey the issue of the writing format of numbers in mathematics class (based on the lecturer's and teachers' opinions) in the Kurdistan Region’s (KR) curriculum which is writing format from right to left. After discussions on the subject with university lecturers and public school teachers in the Koya District, at first, an open-ended questionnaire was prepared and conducted with the participation of 20 teachers, and on this base, the main questionnaire was prepared to survey the issue. After obtaining the face validity of the questionnaire from the specialized experts, the survey was distributed to (55) teachers of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and English language majors. As a result, a positive view of the sample's statistical evidence regarding the presence of specific issues was obtained. Demographically, there was no difference in positive perceptions of university lecturers and public school teachers towards this issue. However, the responses of mathematics class teachers were more positive than that of other specialties. In addition, the demographic variable of the teaching service has had an effect in favor of those teachers who have had fewer years of teaching service.

The study is entitled, ‘language and curriculum in education field. It stresses on how curriculum and language can impact on individuals and the changes in their behavior. The curriculum is said to be the compilation of the experience and educational activities which has multiple objectives behind. The use of curriculum is to direct and enable the individuals to progress thanks to the use of language set by authorities in diverse sectors of life. The way of constituting the language of educational texts of the coursebooks directly affects meeting the education objectives and the change in individuals’ behavior. Therefore, the role of language is seen as substantial as the role of curriculum in meeting the objectives of education. Semantic conveyance, in per educational text, is considered the first step to learning. Language and curriculum are two inseparable entities in which neither one can ever stand in the absence of the other. The study consists of three chapters, some concluding points and the list of references. First chapter (curriculum and language) addresses the curriculum and language separately. Education philosophy, the principles of curriculum as well as the objectives of it are discussed. Chapter two (the curriculum and its effects) addresses the relationship between the curriculum and the student him/herself with respect to the development, directions, skills, needs and the desire for learning.
