The Role of Women in the Foundation of Musical Kurdish Verses

The paper explores the foundation of the Kurdish folk poetry and draws attention to the fact that in the contemporary world, unfortunately, it does not receive enough attention from Kurdish scholars as it should have. Overall, it aims to examine how women’s abilities, identities, and social power are reflected in the verses, and what kind of characteristics are attributed to women within the Kurdish verses. This research seeks to explore many challenges. Among them is the absence of their audio clips especially those who once were masters, yet left behind no traces of audio, only their work which got preserved in the verses and some pages of art. Some women appear in these works remain unknown, never became famous. However, their reputability is lost within time. In contrast, the hero men have stories and endings that are clearly remembered and recorded. The research is analytical descriptive method, aiming to analyze and explain the figures of (Kaka Mir and Kaka Sheikh) verses. The researcher has provided several recommendations to relevant institutions, encouraging them to organize conferences and meetings aimed at promoting Kurdish verse. The researcher also suggested that the verses attributed to Kaka Meer and Kaka Sheikh be analyzed and placed within a clear historical and chronological framework by experts, and that all recorded verses be transcribed into musical notation.
