Democracy from Citizens’ Perspective

The main aim of the study was to accomplish an exploratory execution of the citizens’ conceptualization of democracy. To achieve this goal, the researchers relied on qualitative design to conduct in-depth semi-open interviews with 24 citizens from the IKR, residing in the governorates of Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, and several autonomous administrations. Then, the results were summarized within several themes, such as: democracy as rights, freedom, equality and social justice; Democracy is the best political system and form of governance; Democracy is not just a Western way of life; democracy is a utopia; Democracy and religion will not be an alternative to each other. At the same time, the results of the study showed that those who have a positive view toward democracy, often stem from exigencies and expectations placed on democracy, particularly in its political dimension, especially in terms of providing the right to participate, freedom of expression, social justice in terms of distribution of wealth, roles and positions, equality before the law and providing opportunities. However, in its social and cultural facets, and as a result of comments about some of the outcomes and consequences of democracy in western countries in particular, the desire for democracy among Kurdistan citizens is lower.

The title" Social Rights in the Babylonian and Assyrian recorded Laws" as the title of this scientific research, stems from the fact that the Babylonian and Assyrian laws, as two of the oldest and most important laws in human history after the Sumerian laws and reforms, paid attention to the family and the setting up of social relations, and attention was also given to human rights. Family members and society are within the framework of these laws in a way, which makes them worthy of their various angles being the subject of research and their various dimensions worthy of interpretation. The research was devoted to the social rights in Babylonian and Assyrian laws and their impact on society, and the social dimensions of this aspect were presented in its content depending on a group of scientific sources and the opinions of scholars. In addition to the summary in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, the list of sources, and the most important results, this study consists of three main topics as follows: A summary of the history of Babylonian and Assyrian recorded laws. Individual rights; Women, children, men, and slaves in Babylonian and Assyrian recorded laws. Family and community rights in Babylonian and Assyrian recorded laws.

This research aims to show and clarify the rights enshrined in the right of the public employee in the Islamic Sharia emanating from the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah and Sharia policy books. All alike, and legitimate rights manifest in moral and psychological rights and financial rights. Financial rights are formed in salaries, bonuses, retirement, and so on. Moral rights revolve around vacation rights in all their forms, better dealings, defending them, stimulating progress and innovation, and so on. The study relied on the inductive, analytical and survey approach accompanying the list of questionnaires that inquired, and directed questions related to the rights of employees.
