The Role of Urbanization in the Modernization of Social Values with in the Kurdish Family

Urbanization is one of the most crucial worldwide phenomena which functions as a major operator of social and cultural changes. In Kurdish society, especially in Erbil city, there has been rapid urban developments in the last few decades, which has been the reason for the creation of a dynamic interplay between traditional values and modern lifestyles. The main objective of this research is to explore the role of urbanization in the transformation of social values within Kurdish families. The study aims to examine the extent to which modern values are adopted, the impact of the urban environment on family structure and behavior. To achieve these objectives, a quantitative research method was followed, and a questionnaire tool was used to collect data. The research population consisted of families in the city of Erbil, and a purposive sample of 390 families was selected from 13 different neighborhoods of the city, representing various levels of social and economic status. The reliability of the research scale was 86.22%, and the placement (Cronbach's Alpha) was 0.771, which indicates a high level of reliability. The main findings of the research reveal that the process of modernization within Kurdish families is complex. On one hand, there is a noticeable acceptance of certain modern values, such as mixed-gender education. The research also discovered a strong relationship between new media and consumer culture. Moreover, differences in lifestyles between the various neighborhoods of the city were identified, which reflects the diversity of urban culture.

The Influences of Social Media on Changing Social Values of Women in The Kurdistan Region.

The main problem of this study, which is entitled (The effects of social media on changing social values of women in the Kurdish region) is that there is a vague and lack of understanding of the effects in which the use of social media platforms haS on the women in the Kurdistan Region. As such, the study attempts to achieve several aims specifically understanding and examining the influence of the use of social media platforms on changing social values of the employed women in the Kurdistan region, in addition to exploring the most values in which could be affected by these platforms. In terms of the approaches, this study is both quantitative and qualitative, as the data that were collected from the tools, are both numbers and information. Moreover, the researcher has explained and interpreted the collected data to provide a deeper understanding of the topic and results. The structure and topic of the study have required the use of survey method and for data collection the researcher resorted to the use of questionnaires forms, which were sent to the sample of the study(1088 participants) online through Google form and hardcopy, from all the four provinces of Kurdistan Region (Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok and Halabja).Furthermore, the size of the sample was determined based on the data that the researcher gained from statistics authority in the KRG. The figure is (143560) female employees in the offices of the Kurdistan Region, of which (0.5%) is taken. The most obvious finding of the study is that social media has had a significant impact on changing social values ​​among women in the Kurdistan Region (42.2%) and most of this impact is negative.
