A Multimodal Discourse Analysis of Posters in the 2024 Parliamentary Election Campaign of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

The present study is an investigation into the multimodal discourse analysis of campaign posters used by political parties, political coalitions, and independent candidates during the 2024 parliamentary elections in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. In the current study, the researchers will utilize a multimodal discourse analysis approach so as to explore and find out how meanings are constructed and communicated through different modes such as verbal, visual, audio and so on. The main objective is to examine the various tools and strategies employed by the political candidates in designing the posters to convey their plans, programs, and appeal to the electorate. To conduct a comprehensive exploration of the multimodal discourse in the 2024 parliamentary election campaigns of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, the present study will analyze a sample of five campaign posters of four nominees from four different political parties and one independent candidate. The posters have been carefully selected to represent a diverse range of political parties and independent candidates. The findings demonstrate how nominees use linguistic components, including Kurdish text and straightforward, uncomplicated language, to demonstrate their sense of politics and their self-confidence. Additionally, the employment of social markers and close facial expressions increases connection and audience participation.

Effects Of Political Discourse That Electronic Journalism Has on Voter in The Kurdistan Region

The aim of this study is to understand the effects of political discourse that electronic journalism has on voter in the Kurdistan Region. The descriptive approach was followed in this study, and the survey tool was used for a random sample of voters in the Kurdistan Region, numbering (688) people, relying on an electronic questionnaire tool that was formulated through Google Form. A non-random, intentional sample of election office officials from six major political parties in the Kurdistan Region participating in the elections was also used through scientific interviews. The study reached a number of conclusions, including: A large percentage of the study sample reads news via the Internet. The percentage of reading political discourse or political discussions by the study sample is average, while the percentage of reading political discourse through electronic journalism is low. The study sample is interested in the media content of political discourse on electronic journalism in general and video clips in particular. The study sample's trust in the political discourse of the electronic press is satisfactory, and the percentage of criticism directed by the study sample towards the political discourse of electronic press is high. The political discourses published in electronic journalism had a moderate influence on study samples’ voting decisions for candidates or party lists .Finally, the study found that political discourse published in electronic journalism had a moderate effect on participants’ engagement in election campaigns.

The Sixth Parliamentary Election of Kurdistan: Results and Implications

Political geography examines all geographical factors that influence political decisions and changes, including the analysis and distribution of power among parties and lists participating in the electoral process. Parliament is a national institution that plays a vital role in strengthening the political process of the Kurdistan region and ensuring the rights and duties of its inhabitants the sixth term of Kurdistan Parliament represents a major change in the parliament's history regarding the electoral system, reduction in parliamentary seats, distribution of seats across electoral districts, and the reorganization of ethnic minority quotas. The election system changed from a single constituency to a multiple constituency system. Based on Kurdistan Region's provinces, parliamentary seats were divided into four electoral districts (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, and Halabja). The number of parliamentary seats was reduced from 111 to 100, and the ethnic minority quota system was reorganized from 11 seats to 5 seats, distributed across the electoral districts. Since the first parliamentary election, voter turnout has consistently declined, from 87.4% in the first term to 59% in the fifth term - a decrease of 28.4%. However, voter turnout in this sixth parliamentary term increased to 72%, demonstrating Kurdistan Region citizens' renewed trust in this national institution. This is considered an important turning point for the Kurdistan Region, enabling parliament to become a decision-making center and a strong pillar of national security.

The Analysis of Elections’ Result in the Both of Round in the Parliament (2013- 2018) of Kurdistan’s Region and the Changes in the form of Elections’ Result in the Both of Round

The election is one of the important subject in the political of politics in general and in the geography of election in specific because there is two ways to receive the authority into philosophy of authority, one of them in the way of violence through attacker that it is cause to a terrible situation in the political, social and economy And another way is that the community is agree on the democracy and make a change in the authority, in a peace way and away from violence through election . In this research we analyze the geography to the result of elections in the round of fourth and fifth of Kurdistan’s parliament and make a distinguished in the result of both of round and we analyze those changes that happened and we will evaluate them. The investigation consist of three parts, the first part is the analysis of geography to the election of fourth round of Kurdistan’s parliament ,itself consist of three subject. The first subject is the list of competition of works to general chair and second is the list of competition to final chair The second part is the analysis of geography to elections’ result of fifth round of Kurdistan’s parliament of (2018) The first subject is the list of agents to general chair and second subject is the list competitions to final chairs , third part is the changes from the form of results in both round of elections (2013-2018) in the parliament of Kurdistan ‘s region.
