Philosophical Interpretation of History in Kamal Mazhar’s Thought

Abstract

A great number of the historians to some extent, investigate the history according to philosophical theories, particularly the significant theories of philosophy of history. Kemal Mazhar is not exempted; as a Kurdish historian, has seriously tried to analyze Kurdish history under the influence of those philosophical theories. Therefore, this research attempts to answer these related questions: First; is he investigated the Kurdish history under the influence of philosophical principles ? Has he clearly applied any specific theory in his analysis of the Kurdish history? This research tries to investigate the impact of several theories on Kemal's researches. As Kemal Mazhar was one these Kurdish scholars who studied in the former USSR it is clear that his analysis of the history, was based on the Marxist theory. It is apparent that religion has great influence on the Kurdish society, and most of them are Muslim, therefore when he investigated Kurdish history he praised Islam, in directing Kurdish society. Especially in preparing elites and the Kurdish leaders. Besides that, he really believes the impact of geography on Kurdistan and its political issues. since it has a specific nature and climate. For example, Kurdistan hasn’t direct access to the sea. This has influence on Kemal Mazhar's belief about the geopolitical’s role on Kurdish political situation. Finally, the theory of heroism could be considered as a significant theory, however, from his perspective hero has not a great role in the history, for that reason this theory is not significant I in his researches.
