The Effect of The Type of Testing (Essay Question, Objective Question) On the Student Achievement Among University Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine how essay question and objective question test formats impact student achievement among university students. A semi-experimental approach was employed, with the study population consisting of students from the College of Basic Education at the University of Raparin. A purposive sample of 40 students was selected, and the tool used for testing included essay questions and objective questions in the subject of measurement and evaluation in the third stage. The results of the study indicated that there was no significant difference in student achievement based on the type of test, whether it was an essay question or objective question. Furthermore, no significant differences were found based on the variables studied. Based on these results, several recommendations and suggestions were presented.
