Abstract

This study shows the importance of translation in the field of functional linguistics. Translation has been an important need for communication between different countries and civilizations, and this importance of translation has increased and continues nowadays. Because of the rapid development of science and technology, translation is needed more; translation was thought to be done with technological equipment and computers, so that it can meet the needs of people with this rapid development of science and technology. The first part presents functional linguistics, the concept and definition of translation and types of translation. The second part presents computational linguistics, artificial intelligence and machine translation, the reasons for the emergence and importance of this type of translation.
