The Question of The Identity of The Refugee Character in Kurdish Novels

Abstract

The issue of identity is a contemporary issue, an issue that with the advent of modernism and postmodernism becomes the center of research in many fields. It covers issues of identity, gender identity, ethnicity and many other areas. Our research is working on the issue of refugee character identity. The anthropological, political, social, and psychological dimensions are important in this regard, because the person who becomes a refugee has been raised and educated within one culture, and when he enters another, he is confronted with similarities between me and the other. Obviously, the issues of human reality, refugees and the culture of migration are discussed in the novel. That is, in the novel, all subjects such as culture, identity and the other are reflected in the world we call the novel. In this context, Kurdish novels focus on the identity and character similarities of refugees and we have several novels on this subject. We study this subject from the perspective of cultural narrative. The refugee character in the environment in which he lives is constantly trying to adapt to the culture of the nation, because he has left his culture and identity and now must adapt to this new culture and not be seen as an apostate and find the environment in which he is a refugee and create a new identity for himself.
